After dropping a 2009 match-up 3-4, the University of Montana women’s tennis team gained retribution against Lewis-Clark State Sunday in a 7-0 sweep. The Grizzlies won all singles matches in straight sets.

The Grizzlies climbed to 9-11 overall with Sunday’s win, while the Warriors dropped to 6-8.

Though playing regional NAIA programs, LCSC has offered some stiff competition to Division I teams, pushing Montana State, Weber State and Seattle in 5-2 losses this season.

UM freshman Constance Alexander improved her singles record to 10-9 overall with her win at No. 2.

Heather Davidson improved to .500, going 10-10 for spring competition and 8-4 in the No. 3 spot.

The two Montana freshmen allowed only one game win apiece for their Warrior opponents.

Davidson and Rebecca Bran improved upon their strong doubles record, and now have a 10-6 mark in the No. 1 position for Montana.

With the win, the Grizzlies, who clinched a conference berth last week against Eastern Washington, have only one regular season match remaining.  Montana meets Big Sky No. 6 Northern Colorado Saturday for the first UM home match in two seasons.
