Fan voting through MontanaGrizzlies.com closed last week, and five former Lady Griz and Griz standouts have been named to the Montana basketball All-Decade teams.

Filling the two spots at guard on the women’s team were Brooklynn Lorenzen (2000-04) and Mandy Morales (2005-09). The top vote getters at the forward spots were Julie Deming (1999-2004) and Lauren Cooper (1996-2001). Hollie Tyler (2001-05) earned the nod at center.

Lorenzen, the 2004 Big Sky Conference MVP and Montana’s career assists leader, edged out Morales for the top guard spot, earning 2,822 votes.

Morales, the 2007 and 2009 Big Sky MVP and a four-time honorable mention all-American, received 2,725 votes.

Katie Edwards (2002-06), a two-time All-Big Sky Conference selection, was the runner-up at the guard spot. She received 2,391 votes.

Deming and Cooper were the overwhelming fan favorites at the forward spots.

Deming, the top 3-point shooter (.440) in Lady Griz history and an All-Big Sky selection as a senior, earned a poll-high 4,476 votes. Cooper, a three-time All-Big Sky selection, received 4,379 votes.

Runner-up for at forward position was Linda Weyler (1996-2000), the 2000 Big Sky MVP. She received 3,066 votes.

Tyler, who ranks first in Lady Griz history in rebounding (952) and third in scoring (1,698), received 2,419 votes for the one center spot.

Crystal Baird (2001-05) was the runner-up.

The men’s All-Decade team was made up of Kevin Criswell (2002-06) and Anthony Johnnson (2008-current) at guard, Mike Chavez (2002-05, 2006-07) and Kamarr Davis (2003-05) at forward and Andrew Strait (2004-08) at center.

Criswell, who ranks fourth in Montana scoring history with 1,663 points, was the top vote-getter at guard, receiving 1,174 votes.

Johnson, who recently surpassed 1,000 career points in just his second season with the Grizzlies, received 1,038 votes.

Matt Martin (2005-08), a 1,000-point career scorer, was the runner-up at guard with 491 votes.

Chavez and Davis were the winners in a tight battle for the two forward spots.

Chavez, who was voted the Grizzlies’ Most Inspirational Player as a senior, received 1,364 votes, while Davis, a two-time first All-Big Sky selection and the MVP of the 2005 Big Sky tournament, earned 1,090 votes.

Dan Trammel (2000-02), a two-time team MVP, was the runner-up with 1,000 votes.

Strait, who ranks fifth in Montana history with 1,617 points and ninth with 711 rebounds, was the top vote-getter at center with 600.

Strait got the nod over current Griz center Brian Qvale, who received 500 votes.
