The University of Montana had forty student-athletes named to the 2009 Big Sky Conference Fall All-Academic teams the league office announced recently. Montana had 18 representatives from its football team, 10 from the soccer team, five from the men’s cross country team, four from the women’s cross country team and three from the volleyball team.

The Grizzlies’ total of 40 ranked second in the Big Sky Conference behind Eastern Washington’s league-leading 52.

Montana’s five student-athletes from the men’s cross country team tied for the most in that sport with the Eagles. The Grizzlies’ total of 18 from their Big Sky championship football team was second to EWU’s 20.

Seniors Mac Bloom, Kim Tritz, Abby Grafft, Sarah Stevens, Dan Beaudin and Brandon Fisher all capped their careers as four-time selections in their fall sports.

To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes need at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and must have competed in at least half the team’s 2009 competitions.
