Montana coach Bobby Hauck has been hired to head up the UNLV football team. Hauck was introduced at UNLV in a press conference Wednesday.
Hauck leaves Montana after seven seasons as the winningest coach in Big Sky Conference history in terms of winning percentage (.825) and conference championships.
Hauck replaces former Rebel skipper Mike Sanford, who was fired by UNLV after five losing seasons, a 15-43 record and no bowl appearances. UNLV last made a bowl game in 2000.
Hauck (Montana, 1988), 45, posted an 80-17 record with the Grizzlies, ranking him third in Big Sky history in victories. Those 80 wins are the second-most in school history, behind Don Read’s 85 wins from 1986-1995.
Hauck’s Griz teams won seven straight league titles, and participated in the FCS playoffs seven years in a row, including national title game appearances in 2004, 2008, and 2009. Hauck is the only coach at Montana to accomplish that. His seven league titles are twice as many as any other Grizzly football coach.
