The University of Montana women’s basketball program will be hosting its third annual Texas Hold ’Em poker tournament fundraiser Sunday, April 26, at Paradise Falls in Missoula, Mont. Funds generated from the tournament assist with recruitment efforts, fifth-year scholarships and other activities vital to the continued success of the Lady Griz program.
The tournament will start at 2 p.m. Anyone interested in participating in the fundraiser is asked to contact the Montana basketball office at 406-243-5334.
The final table will consist of the top 10 finishers, with a first-place cash prize of $2,000. The other nine finalists will receive cash payouts, plus Nike bags and accessories.
A special prize will be awarded to the person who eliminates Lady Griz coach Robin Selvig from the tournament.
Spectators will be eligible to win raffle items, and Lady Griz apparel will be available for sale.
“Last year’s tournament gave us the financial opportunity to enhance our recruiting efforts, among other things,” Selvig said. “Plus it was a great gathering of Lady Griz supporters and former players.
“Missoula and the state of Montana have always shown tremendous support for Lady Griz basketball. It’s one of the reasons we are able to attract and retain such good kids in the program.”
