Andrew Levin has been named the MontanaGrizzlies.com Student-Athlete of the Month for April for his month-long superior performance for the UM outdoor track and field team. Levin, a Murray, Utah, native, competes in the decathlon and also excels in a number of its individual events.
The highlight of Levin's month was his fourth-place showing in the decathlon at the Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) Relays April 13-14. Competing against a number of the nation's top decathletes, Levin had a then season-best performance in nine of the 10 decathlon events to score 7,417 points, a career best.
The mark remains the best decathlon point total in the Big Sky Conference in 2005 by over 800 points and has provisionally qualified Levin for the NCAA Championships, which will be held in Sacramento, Calif., in early June.
Levin has also proved to be one of the top athletes in the conference in three individual events, all of which are part of the decathlon.
Levin's season-best time of 14.63 in the 110-meter hurdles ranks second in the conference in 2005. His distance of 23-3.25 in the long jump ranks sixth in the BSC, while his height of 6-6.25 in the high jump ranks eighth.
