Senior jumper Jas Gill has been named the MontanaGrizzlies.com Student-Athlete of the Month for February for his stellar and steady performance on the Grizzly indoor track and field team. His month of success ranged from breaking his own indoor high jump record to scoring 18 points for Montana at the 2006 Big Sky Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.

After opening the month by winning the high jump (6-10.75) at the Idaho Open in Moscow, Idaho, Gill and the Griz traveled to the Washington Classic, the second-largest indoor collegiate track and field meet in the nation.

Against some of the West Coast’s best high jumpers, Gill won the event with a height of 7-2.5. The mark broke his previous school record of 7-1.75, which he set in 2004 and matched in 2005. It was also an NCAA provisional height.

At the Big Sky championships in Flagstaff, Ariz., Gill won his eighth career Big Sky Conference jumps title with a triple jump of 48-7.5. He finished second in the high jump (6-11.75) to score 18 of Montana’s 58 total team points at the meet.
