Dustin Dlouhy has been named MontanaGrizzlies.com Student-Athlete of the Month for his athletic acheivements in December. Dlouhy recorded 26 tackles, 3.5 sacks (for -20 yards) and a forced fumble in the Grizzlies' three December playoff games.
The sophomore defensive end from Idaho Falls, Idaho, started the month by tallying a team-high 9 tackles and 1.5 sacks (for -7 yards) in the 47-17 quarterfinal playoff victory over New Hampshire. Dlouhy and the Griz defense led 44-3 at the end of the third quarter before giving up two fourth quarter touchdowns to the Wildcats.
Dlouhy had a career day in the Grizzlies' 34-13 semifinal win over Sam Houston State. He registered a team-high 10 tackles and added 2 sacks (for -13 yards) and a forced fumble against the potent Bearkat offense. Going into the game, SHSU quarterback Dustin Long had only been sacked three times all season. Long was sacked by Dlouhy and the Griz defense six times in UM's home win that was televised nationally on ESPN2. Dlouhy also forced Long to fumble the ball in the third quarter, a turnover that resulted in another Grizzly score.
Dlouhy tallied 7 tackles in Montana's 31-21 loss to James Madison in the NCAA Division I-AA National Championsip game played at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn.
