Senior guard Katie Edwards has been named MontanaGrizzlies.com Student-Athlete of the Month for her athletic acheivements in November. Edwards averaged a team-best 18.0 points per game to help the Lady Griz open the season with a 3-1 record.

Edwards, a native of Lewistown, Mont., started her senior campaign with a 21-point, 5-rebound effort in UM's 71-70 road win over Utah State. Edwards not only led Montana in scoring but reached the 1,000-point career mark in the victory when she hit a jumper early in the second half. She is just the 23rd Lady Griz player to reach the 1,000-point mark.

In UM's only home appearance of the season, the 5-foot-9-inch sharp shooter had 16 points in 26 minutes of action to lift the Lady Griz to a 83-49 blowout victory over Rocky Mountain.

Edwards and the Lady Griz made a southern road-swing to the Florida State Seminole Classic where UM defeated Wright State 57-47 in the semifinals before falling 69-56 to Florida State in the title game.

Edwards scored a season-high 24 points and grabbed five boards in the win over Wright State. She tallied 11 points in the loss to the Seminoles. Edwards was named to the all-tournament team for her play over the weekend.

Through 93 career games (64 starts) Edwards averaged 11.0 points per game and shot 37.8 percent on three-pointers.
