Sophomore forward Andrew Strait has been
named MontanaGrizzlies.com Student-Athlete of the Month for
his athletic achievements throughout the month of November. Strait averaged 14.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per game to help lead the Grizzlies to a 3-1 mark early in the 2005-06 season.
Strait, a 6-foot-8-inch, 245-pounder from Yakima, Wash., powered Montana to a split in its season-opening road trip. After tallying nine points, four rebounds, a block and a steal in a 90-69 loss at Boise State, Strait registered season-highs with 19 points and nine rebounds in a 81-75 road win over Loyola Marymount.
Strait and the Griz continued their winning ways with home wins over Western Oregon and Utah Valley State.
Strait stuffed the stat sheet in UM's 86-57 win over WOU, scoring 18 points, hauling in seven boards, swatting two shots and a grabbing one steal. Strait, who is shooting 67.6 percent from the field this year, totalled 13 points and four rebounds in the Grizzlies' 75-59 win over the Wolverines.
Strait averaged 9.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game through 34 games (eight starts) in his career at UM. |
