Johanna Closson has been named the MontanaGrizzlies.com Student-Athlete of the Month for her athletic achievements in November. The freshman from Whitefish, Mont., made an immediate impact on the Lady Griz, helping them to two exhibition wins and a 3-1 start to the regular season.

Closson, a 6-0 forward who was a three-time all-state selection at Whitefish High, averaged 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds earlier in November when Montana claimed exhibition wins over a travel team from the National Women's Basketball League and Déjà Vu, a team of former Lady Griz greats.

Against the NWBL team, Closson came off the bench and hit 8-of-10 shots to score a game-high 18 points. She also led Montana in scoring against Déjà Vu, going 5-for-8 from the field to total 15 points.

In four regular-season games, Closson is averaging 10.5 points, ranking third on the team, and 6.0 rebounds, which ranks second.

In her third career game, Closson scored a team-high 21 points against East Carolina in an opening-round win at the Four Points LAX Turkey Shootout at Pepperdine. She came off the bench to hit 7-of-11 shots, went 6-for-7 from the line and grabbed six rebounds.
