Senior Lindsay Winans has been named MontanaGrizzlies.com Student-Athlete of the Month for her play on the Grizzly soccer team in October. Winans scored four of her team-high eight season goals in October, leading the Grizzlies to a 6-3-2 record along the way. She was also named the 2006 Big Sky Offensive MVP. Winans, a four-time All-Big Sky selection, also earned the award as a sophomore.

The Tigard, Ore., native scored her second career hat trick in a 4-0 win over Northern Arizona in the Big Sky conference opener.

The next weekend, Winans scored the lone Grizzly goal in a 1-1 tie with Sacramento State. She followed up with an assist on Sami Cooke’s game-winning goal against Portland State.

She assisted on MacKenzie Murphy’s goal in the first 45 seconds of the Grizzlies 2-1 win over Weber State.

She also assisted on Murphy’s goal against Sacramento State in the semi-finals of the Big Sky conference tournament. The duo were both selected to the all-tournament team.

Winans ends her career as the all-time leader in shots in the Big Sky with 232. She also ranks fourth all-time in Montana history with 29 goals and fifth in game winning goals with eight. Winans has led the team in goals each year of her career. She ends her career ranked sixth in points with 63.
