Colin Mascall has been named MontanaGrizzlies.com Student-Athlete of the Month for his athletic acheivements in October. Mascall played solid singles and doubles play in all three of the Grizzlies' fall tournaments.

At the UM Fall Invitational, the first fall tournament of 2004 for the men's team, Mascall won five consecutive matches en route to his first collegiate singles championship. Mascall, a 6-2 sophomore from Victoria, British Columbia, breezed through the main draw with straight-set wins over Brian Garfield of Eastern Washington, Marco Pineda of Gonzaga, Seth Banks and Terrance Nugent of Idaho. Mascall went on to defeat teammate Varun Giri in the final, 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles action at the UM Fall Invitational Mascall teamed with Gus Treyz to defeat EWU's Kevin Erickson-Jonathan Davis, MSU-Billings' Jose Garcia-John Marnin and Gonzaga's Bryce Cooper-Marco Pineda on their way to their 8-4 finals win over Dru Ernst-Reid Arthur of Gonzaga.

Mascall won another four singles matches to lead the men's tennis team at the Montana State Invitational at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Complex in Bozeman. Mascall advanced to his second singles championship in as many weeks but fell in the final to the top-seeded Federico Ueltschi, 1-6, 5-7.

Mascall's path to the final included straight-set wins over Seth Maristuen (MSU-Billings), teammate Gus Treyz and All-Big Sky performer Marek Gebicki (MSU) before topping open player and former All-Big Sky selection Thijs Goossens, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6 (9), in the semifinal.

In doubles action at the MSU Invitational Mascall teamed with Treyz to win 8-2 over the open tandem of Jonathan Linan and Jesse Peach before losing 5-8 to MSU's Ueltschi and Justin Hauck.
