Senior Lindsay Winans has been named MontanaGrizzlies.com Student-Athlete of the Month for her play on the Grizzly soccer team in September. Winans scored three of her team-best four goals in the month, leading the Grizzlies to a 4-4 mark along the way.
The 5-11 senior opened the month with a goal on seven shots in UM's 2-1 loss at Boise State. The goal was her second of the season. Two days later in a neutral-site win over Idaho, Winans tallied five shots with three on goal.
On the Grizzlies east-coast trip to the Delaware tournament, Winans' game-winning goal in the 59th minute lifted the Grizzlies to a 2-1 victory. Winans took a team-best four shots in Montana's 1-0 loss to Yale to wrap up the weekend.
After being limited to only one shot in two matches against Washington State and Arizona, Winans was clutch in Montana's home-opener against MSU-Billings. The Tigard, Ore., native scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime (101st minute) to secure a 1-0 win for UM.
Winans closed the month with a four-shot performance against North Dakota State, a match Montana won 3-0.
Entering the month of October, Winans ranks in the top 10 all-time at Montana in points, goals, game-winning goals and shots taken. She ranks seventh in points with 52, sixth in goals with 25, fifth in game-winning goals with seven and third with 193.
