What is being said about
Kroy Biermann ...

"That defensive end (Biermann) is just phenomenal. We lined our (scout) team up about a yard offside to try to get ready for that kid. I don't think we did a good job of blocking him even with that. He hits full speed like that, can change direction and hit full speed again. He's just very good."

2007: Biermann finished the regular season with 61 total tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 16 sacks, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two blocked field goals. Biermann, who registered at least a sack in his first 10 games of 2007, also had a streak of four straight games where he forced a fumble. He currently ranks second in career sacks (33) and tackles for loss (45.5). Biermann began this season ranked eighth in sacks (17) and ninth in tackles for loss (27.5).
2006: Biermann was UM's fifth leading tackler with 78 stops, and he led the team in sacks (11) and in tackles for loss (13.5). He was the co-recipient of UM's Golden Helmet Award, which is given to the team's “Hardest Hitter.”
Biermann finished 11th in the voting for the Buchanan Award, presented annually to the College Football Subdivision's (formerly Division I-AA) “Outstanding Defensive Player.” He was named a Walter Camp first team All-American and was a second team All-America selection by both the Associated Press and the Sports Network.
He was also a first team All-Big Sky Conference pick. He was named a Sports Network Weekly All-Star and Big Sky Player of the Week on October 2 after UM's win at Portland State.
Biermann was ranked 14th in the country in sacks with .82 a game. He played in all 14 games, starting in 10.
2005: Despite not starting he played in all 12 games and was the team's fifth-leading tackler. He was third on the team with seven sacks for minus-39 yards and tied for the team-high with two fumble recoveries.
2004: He played in 14-of-15 games (he missed UM's first-round I-AA playoff game against Northwestern State due to an injury) as a true freshman. He had the third most (tied) tackles for loss on the team with seven. Kroy was moved from linebacker to defensive end in the fall of 2004.
High School: He earned eight letters at Hardin High School: three each in football and wrestling and two in track.
He was a first team all-state pick and team captain as a junior and senior at linebacker. He was chosen first team all-conference at running back in 2002 and 2003.
He participated in Montana's Annual East-West Shrine Game. His high school football coaches were Kelly Kinsey and former (1971-75) Griz tight end Duane Walker.
Biermann was one of the state's premier wrestlers at the A level and placed second in the state as a junior and senior. His senior year in wrestling he was team captain, had the most take-downs and most pins, and was voted his team's Most Valuable Wrestler.
Personal: He is a sociology major. His parents are Keith and Kathy Biermann of Hardin. Birth date: September 12, 1985. Kroy had a 3.6 GPA in high school.
Career highs: He had 10 tackles in a first-round CFS game against McNeese State in 2006 and 3.0 sacks against Northern Colorado earlier this year.
Quoting head coach Bobby Hauck: "Kroy had a tremendous season last fall. He had double-digits in sacks and tackles for losses, was one of the finalists for the Buchanan Award, and he made several All-American teams. We expect him, with the work that he has put in this off-season, to take his game to another level and be a player who will be winning some major awards at the end of the 2007 season."
